Gabriel Fauré: Cello Sonata in G Minor, Op. 117
Francis Poulenc: Le Bal Masqué
Franz Schubert: Die Forelle
Schubert: Piano Quintet in A, Op. 114, D 667, "Trout"
Starting in France, this concert opens with the intimately romantic Second Cello Sonata of Gabriel Fauré. Next, baritone John Taylor Ward returns to Brainerd for a second summer, performing Poulenc's quirky and eclectic Le Bal Masqué. For the second half of the program we travel to Germany, featuring Schubert’s well known “Trout” Quintet for piano and strings, as well as his famous song Die Forelle, on which it is based.
