Samuel Barber: Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Op. 25

Aaron Copland: Appalachian Spring Suite (13 player version)

This concert is sure to be an audience favorite! Featuring three of the most popular American composers of all time, this concert opens with George Gershwin’s jazzy 3 Preludes. Next, returning from last year, soprano Maria Bellanca will be joined by a chamber orchestra of student, professional, and local musicians to perform Samuel Barber’s nostalgic Knoxville: Summer of 1915. The second half of the program will feature the original chamber orchestra score of Aaron Copland’s ballet Appalachian Spring, one of the most beautiful American works ever written.
