Name: Schoolmarm at Pioneer Village
Date: August 7, 2019
Time: 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
All are invited to visit the Schoolmarm at Pioneer Village. You will get a glimpse of what school life was like in the late 1800's. Lessons include alphabet, cursive (upper and lower case), numbers, roman numerals and multiplication tables from original curriculum.

Once a group of students arrive (8-10 visitors), students will sit in original desks, according to grade level. And even the post graduate visitors will have homework responsibilities.

Other interesting discussion includes:
  • History of male vs. female teachers
  • Traveling to school
  • Student dress code
  • Lunchtime
  • Water cooler
When you lesson is over, enjoy a self-guided tour of historic Pioneer Village. This will give you a glimpse of a quieter, more peaceful life at the turn of the century. And don't forget to walk across the street and go through our original restored depot and caboose.
