About Us

Open dawn to dusk seven days a week to offer respite to residents and visitors. Sit in the gazebo, linger on the bridge, stroll along a path or wind through the winter woods on skis—whether you have an hour or a day, tranquility will surely enhance your visit

The Northland Arboretum has been a staple in the Brainerd Lakes Area for 50 years. As a nature focused non-profit, we aim to provide the community with opportunities for recreation, conservation, and education with the goal of contributing to the overall health of individuals and families. We provide classes and workshops to the community, local schools, and local organizations. We also host exciting community events throughout the year, with our biggest being our Free Arbor Day Community Celebration and the always frightening Haunted Trail. We are passionate advocates for developing strong connections between people, nature, and each other. With over 400 acres and more than 12 miles of trail system, the Arb is a magical, year-round destination for many people in and outside the Lakes Area. As you stroll the grounds the songbirds will make it easy to see why this oasis in the midst of city has been designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA). During the warm months, hike our trails, wander our many volunteer run gardens, or watch your children learn and play at our new nature playscape. We are also excited to be breaking ground this year on what will be Central Minnesota’s largest bike park. In the winter, our hiking trails convert into some of the most well-groomed, intermediate cross country ski trails in the area.
